About US
Pocket City Farms is a social enterprise (with charity and DGR status) that empowers communities through education to improve the natural environment, tackle food insecurity and take action on climate change. We do this by educating communities, schools and business to think more sustainably and to take action on climate change, sharing our knowledge of regenerative agriculture, waste reduction, permaculture and water saving techniques.
About the role
We are currently fielding expressions of interest for two new directors with to join the Pocket City Farms board of directors. If you’re passionate about being part of a growing social enterprise focused on regenerative urban agriculture, education and community, we’d love to hear from you!
The overall role of the board and its members is to oversee the strategic direction and governance for the organisation and support PCF staff members to deliver against the strategy. In doing so board members play a pivotal role in contributing to our mission and within urban agriculture, local fair food production and building community and education. Our board member positions are voluntary with all members required to be active in their roles with a minimum time commitment of 5-10 hours per month. PCF follows the Governance Standards of the ACNC and all board members are expected to fulfil their fiduciary responsibilities in line with these Standards. The role of board members may include, but not be limited to:
Attending and preparing for board meetings (meetings are monthly for 1 hour), working group sessions, strategy days and fundraising events;
Contributing to strong governance, strategic direction and financial stewardship;
Building networks and relationship that will support Pocket City Farms to grow and thrive;
Providing guidance and support to staff setting up new projects throughout the stages of planning and development, through to completion and operations;
About You
We are particularly interested in hearing from people with:
Regenerative and/or urban agriculture experience, to support our team to implement regenerative activities at our Camperdown site and provide technical expertise for new sites;
Primary & secondary school education Experience, ideally with connections into government and peak bodies to support the growth of our education programs;
Experience working with First Nations people, particularly from community engagement and land management perspectives;
Fundraising & grant writing experience, to support our strategic fundraising and grant application activities;
