MIDYIM BERRY
Austromyrtus dulcis
Midgen or Midyim berries are perennial low shrubs native to Australia, producing an abundance of small white flowers in spring and summer. They're a hardy species that are rarely susceptible to diseases or pests, making them easy to look after. Best of all, they bear fruit.
PLANT
Best planted in autumn or early winter.
HARVEST
Late summer and early autumn. Fruit will look round and soft once ripe and will easily fall off into your hand. Shrubs grow up to 2 metres high.
Eat
The white and purple speckled berries are eaten fresh off the bush and have a sweet flavour. They are also delicious added to salads, ice cream or yoghurt.
