PASSIONFRUIT
Passiflora edulis
Passionfruit vines are a great plant to grow – not only do they produce mouth-wateringly fruit, they grow on vigorous vines and make any fence, wall or pergola look stunning. A great spot for a Passionfruit vine is one that's out in the open, has full sun and no trees or competitive roots. The vines are heavy feeders and need plenty of water and well-drained soil.

HARVEST
Passionfruit trees takes 5-18 months to bear fruits. The fruit is ripe when it is plump and fully coloured, either dark yellow, orange, red or purple. Slightly wrinkled fruit means it is super ripe and will taste very sweet. Passionfruit won't ripen off the vine, so allow fruit to fully develop before harvesting. If growing as a vine make sure you give them room to climb and spread – at least 2.5m high.
EAT
Passionfruit pulp is a perfect addition to any fruit salad or drizzled on top of your favorite ice-cream.
PRESERVE
Scoop the passionfruit out of the rind and freeze in portions to use later.
