GETTING THERE //
TRAIN + 15 minute walk //
Catch a train to Newtown station and walk straight down Australia Street. Cross through Camperdown Park and you will reach Camperdown Commons.
BUS //
Buses run frequently from Central Station to the Bridge Road school bus stop on Parramatta Rd.
Bus routes include:
413, 436, 438, 439, 440, 480, 483 + M10
HIRED BUSES + PARKING //
Buses will be able to pull into the side carpark between the farm and Camperdown Park to drop off. However, they will then need to go and find parking on a local street. Parking is regularly monitored and are 2 hour limits. There’s also a Secure Carpark on Grose St that can be utilised.
WHERE TO MEET //
Upon entering Camperdown Commons, follow signs to the ‘Common Pavilion’. This is an undercover area overlooking the farm. We will meet you there with bells on!
WHAT TO BRING //
Refillable water bottles are essential
Reusable coffee cups are strongly recommended if you woud like a coffee before we start from the Container Cafe
Hat
Closed footwear
Long sleeved shirt and long pants are recommended
Raincoat if the weather is looking rainy
PRIOR TO VISIT //
Please read through our Risk Management Policy below before attending your team retreat. There are simple mitigation strategies outlined within the document to minimise risks while being on the farm. We want to be as safe as possible!
Additionally, please send us a copy of your media policy guidelines. This is to ensure we are aware of expectations surrounding photography when on the site.
CANCELLATION POLICY //
After your booking is confirmed, cancellations will be charged 50% for more than a week’s notice, and the full fee for less than a week’s notice.

risk management
Safety at Pocket City Farms (PCF) during on farm events is our priority. We recognise that safety is a shared responsibility during these sessions.
Covid - 19 //
PCF Staff will be free from fever, cough, cold, or any other symptoms, or will excuse themselves from work
PCF Staff will practice social distancing when practical
PCF Staff will use hand sanitizer across the session
Hand washing stations are available to attendees
Hand sanitizer is available to attendees
During practical work, attendees will wear gloves at all times
Whenever practical, attendees will use their own individual materials, rather than shared materials
Extreme weather conditions, rain, hail, heat, wind etc. //
Check weather forecast the day before the team retreat is booked.
Ensure attendees are prepared for weather conditions. This includes wearing appropriate clothing and having adequate sun/rain protection.
During the warmer months and especially in extreme heat, ensure attendees have refillable water bottles.
We will modify activities if extreme weather conditions are scheduled.
There are sheltered areas where sessions can take place.
Movement around the farm //
The program involves lots of moving around the farm and weaving in and around vegetable beds, potential rip hazards and potential for attendees to wander off from the group.
Ensure closed footwear is worn when attending.
Ensure attendees are aware that this is a productive vegetable farm and they are to walk in between vegetable beds.
PCF staff members will always warn attendees whether a trip hazard is close by. Constant reminders of being aware whilst walking will be reiterated.
Children at on farm events must be subject to direct adult supervision and should not be allowed to ‘go off on their own’ and adults are advised to stick with the group.
Animals, insects + plants //
Potential risk of bites, stings and allergic reactions.
There is a restaurant and café located on site and people bring their dogs and sit outside with them. There is also a farm dog here some days. Ensure attendees are aware dogs may be present on site and children do not approach unknown dogs and pat them.
Being a diverse ecosystem there are many insect visitors including bees and wasps. Identify allergies prior to attending the farm. If there are attendees with allergies ensure they have their appropriate medication with them.
There is a first aid kit available on the farm.
PCF staff are up to date in e-anaphylaxis training.
Child protection //
PCF staff have compliant police checks and up to date Working with Children Check.
First aid //
Allergies, accidents/medical emergencies
Attendees should ensure that individual health care plans with health care needs or disabilities include provision for the management of such conditions for on farm events.
There is a first aid kit available on the farm.
Ensure all attendees have appropriate medications specific to their needs (asthma puffer, epipen, diabetes medication)
Have a first aid qualified person on site.
Traffic hazards //
We are located on a busy road and are a block away from Parramatta Rd.
Ensure bus drop offs and pick-ups take place on Pidcock St. This is a quieter street just off Mallett St.
Ensure attendees stay on the footpath as they walk to the entrance of Camperdown Commons.
Ensure there is adequate supervision if children are walking along the footpath.
If using public transport along Parramatta Rd, ensure strict expectations are voiced the day before and of the excursion to avoid any wandering onto the road or standing too close to the edge while waiting for traffic lights.
Hygiene //
Attendees will be getting their hands dirty as many activities involves planting and working on the farm.
Food preparation is also included in some sessions.
Clear expectations set regarding washing hands before handling food.
Ensure attendees wash their hands after using the toilet.
PCF has a wash station.
Ensure attendees with allergies have adequate protection.
