WHAT WE OFFER

Pocket City Farms is a unique and vibrant space in the heart of Sydney at Camperdown Commons. We offer perfect place to get your team together to bond, get creative or be productive without paying for expensive offsite accommodation, volunteer and give back.

Corporate Volunteering on the farm is a great way for your teams to get their hands dirty, bond and learn some new skills. It’s also adds huge value to the community and people that we serve. We offer volunteering at our Camperdown Environmental Sustainability Hub, showcasing our urban farm, community food forest and education garden. Guided by the season, you could be helping us with a range of environment protecting activities including bed preparation, weeding, water saving programs, mulching, transplanting seedlings or making compost.

Alongside volunteering opportunities, we also offer full day and half day Team Retreats packages that include a range of workshops, farm tours and meeting & event spaces.

  • Team and Corporate Volunteering on the farm is a great way for your teams to get their hands dirty, bond and learn some new skills. It’s also adds huge value to the community and people that we serve. We offer volunteering on our urban farm and community food forest. Guided by the season, you could be helping us with bed preparation, weeding, mulching, transplanting seedlings or making compost.

  • We offer a range of hand-on workshops. Choose from:

    • Growing Greens, Herbs and Salad – our absolute gardening 101, enough to get people started on a balcony or something small at home.We’ll guide you through setting up and caring for your own patch of greens and herbs, whatever space you have.

    • Circular Economy in Action – Compost 101: We’ll take you on a journey exploring why and how we compost at Pocket City Farms. From our compact indoor bokashi system, household sized worm farms, daleks, tumblers, cool seats, hot and cold compost hugs, chop and drop in our food forest, our compost creating chooks in their deep litter sysem, banana pits and giant commercial sized worm farm we have a showcase of urban compost solutions! If what we have on offer isn’t an option where you live or work we will also discuss how to compost if none of these options are available via Peels and FOGO.

    • Sustainability at work and home - Learn how permaculture and zero waste principles at home and work can save money and the planet. We focus on energy, waste, water, transport, food, biodiversity and money.

    • Pickles, Preserves or Ferments - Learn the basics of how to prepare pickles, preserves and ferments while putting together some homemade goodies to take home.

    • Succulent Terrariums - You’ll learn the basics of terrariums, and how to build your own terrarium, and plant it out with a vast variety of succulents to take home with you. Our most basic course, we call succulents the gateway drug to gardening, great for first timers and for doing while enjoying a few drinks.

  • Take a 45 minute tour of our first Sydney urban farm. We’ll guide you through why we’re farming in the city, the benefits of urban farming, our daily operations and farming methods, and take a walk through the different areas of the farm.

  • We offer the flexibility to host you for an informal team meeting through to an immersive strategic planning day. A range of catering and beverage options are available to suit all budgets. To find our more about our spaces click here.

  • 9:30am -9:40am: Acknowledgement of Country / Welcome / Housekeeping / Safety

  • 9:40am -10:25am Session 1 - Farm Tour (45 mins)

  • 10:25am -11:10am Session 2 - Workshop (45 mins)

  • 11:10am -11:30am Morning Tea. We use fresh produce and herbs from the farm.

  • 11:30am -12:20pm Session 3 - Hands on session (50 mins)

  • 12:20pm - 12:25pm Tools away / Wash Up / Q&A

  • 12:30 Thank you & Optional Lunch (Please note: Lunch options are available via our on site catering options at an additional cost)

As a small charity, all fees go directly to supporting our Sustainable Development Goals aligned programs, including the provision of fresh produce to vulnerable and homeless people in our local community.
