Caro and Vanessa run the movement 'Be An Unfucker'. They're on a mission to spread the good word of how each and every one of us can 'unfuck' the planet, one small step at a time. This overbearing feeling of how awful the state of our world is in, can be a stifling brain kerfuffle to say the least, so if you're feeling said kerfuffle, join us for this humorous yet practical morning of helpful hints over a cuppa or three.
Join Caro to figure out what you can do to influence change in your world. And we’re not talking about strapping yourself to a tree kind of change, more like finding out what you’re passionate about and giving you the prompts to do something about it.
Here's what you'll be doing:
Drawing: yes, but you don't need to be an artist! //
Self-reflection: the fun kind. //
Thinking small and thinking wide: saaaay what? Trust us. //
Letter writing: nope, it ain't dead. //
Meeting other kick ass people who like the same things are you do: future friends! //
Caro will workshop your ‘thing’ and then work out practical ways to help you make change. All you need to bring is a can-do attitude. Just kidding.
Suitable for: Adults (18+) You can imagine the language that may be flung around.
Cost: $50.00
Bring: Pen + paper for taking notes. You'll wanna take a lot of them.
The Unfuckers: Caro + Vanessa both have backgrounds in freelancing in advertising agencies as creatives. Caro is an art director and Vanessa is a copywriter. They run Unfuckers in their spare time and always had their own side projects going on but always had problems finishing them. So they decided to do one together (Be An Unfucker). They wanted to use their creative skills for good, so when they got more and more into climate change, they thought this would be a good way to take something important and communicate it in a way they’d respond to – and hoped others would too.
Their approach is jovial yet captivating and they now have an Instagram following of 23K. Here's a quote that sums up their realistic perceptions of how change can occur.
"You can’t care about something just because someone tells you to. So we want to give people a reason to care every time we give them a fact. If you say, drinking coffee from a takeaway cup is bad, don’t do it – people will roll their eyes and give you the mental middle finger. If you give them a reason why it’s bad, people are more likely to engage with what you have to say."
