Jo Truman's botanical art is unique and absolutely stunning. Join her for a full day on the farm where you will be taught the techniques behind botanical illustration. Throughout the day you'll work on a couple of drawings to take home with you and treasure. 

We know that everyone holds certain plants or vegetables close to their heart. Beetroot might resonate with one's soul or a bunches of herbs might bring someone immense joy in contrast. If you are attached to a plant's or vegetable's beauty, bring it along to the class and you can use that as your muse. 

You will also be taking a stroll through the garden and collecting a variety of specimens to use as well. You might even like to incorporate something of yours and something from the farm. Whatever you choose, you will leave with new drawing knowledge and skills in creating your very own botanical portfolio of earthly delights.

The teacher:

Jo Truman has a background as a multimedia artist. Her main passion is nature in all her wonderful manifestations and native plants and wildlife are her main inspiration. She studied art at COFA and the National Art School and taught Botanical Illustration for many years at Sydney Community College and Nepean Community College. She believes the study of nature through art and the practice of Botanical Illustration has multiple benefits: it helps us connect and  appreciate the beauty and complexity of nature, as well as honing our artistic and technical drawing skills through observational drawing and provides a great sense of satisfaction in the process for the artist.
