Our favourite community gardener, Jon Kingston is back with a delectable workshop. Kicking off the session will be an introduction to the plants in focus and their advantages and disadvantages in growing and preparing them. You'll then move onto a practical demonstration of how to propagate each plants successfully and be given tips on how you can guarantee they will succeed in your garden or balcony space.
Then comes the tasting. You'll see first hand how a cocktail can be transformed by a carefully brewed cordial or fresh herbal additions. Not feeling the booze? Tea is on the menu too. You'll learn how to dry and prepare herbs for teas, an amazing way to preserve seasonal herbs and edible flowers.

Teacher: Jon Kingston studied horticultural science (B.Hort Sci) at UWS Hawkesbury and has worked in garden design, bush regeneration, vegetable gardens, horticulture retail and production for 25 years. During this time he has partaken in the design and delivery of over 10 community and/or edible garden projects including the James Street Community Garden in Redfern, The Wayside Chapel's gardens in Bondi Beach and Kings Cross, kitchen and cocktail gardens for numerous restaurants, a handful of new gardens for City West Housing and a range of private backyards and balconies. He specialises in ecological design, organic food production systems, and bush land restoration.
