MANGO

Is there any other fruit that says summer more than the mango? An excellent source of vitamins and antioxidants, mangoes are good source of immune boosting nutrients. The tree is attractive too, especially to fruit bats, so if you want some fruit for your salad bowl consider netting your tree at harvest time.

PLANT

All year round, preferably in autumn. Will take 3-4 years, depending on the variety, to bear fruit.

HARVEST

Late summer and autumn when the colour of the skin turns from green to yellow, orange or red. Tree grows up to 10 metres tall.

EAT

They are incredibly sweet and can be enjoyed fresh from the tree, blended into a cold smoothie or tossed in a salad.

PRESERVE

Such a versatile fruit, surplus mango can be preserved by making jam, syrup, sorbet, drying it for snacking or pureeing. It can also be chopped and frozen for later use in smoothies or other drinks.
