TANSY
Tanacetum vulgare
Tansy is an herbaceous perennial plant, its ferny foliage, its cheery yellow flowers are captivating and its scent allures. Historically grown for its medicinal properties, tasting bitter was used as a strewing herb. Unfortunately tansy is considered a toxic plant, but a staunch garden protector thanks to its insect repellent properties. It’s high levels of potassium and other minerals also make it a great addition to your compost.

Late winter to mid summer. Seeds are slow to germinate, taking between 20-30 days to emerge.

Tansy plants begin to flower about a year after planting.
