Taking things right back to basics, 'Wildcraft Australia' teaches the skills necessary to go into the wilderness and draw all of your needs from nature. They believe that through a deeper understanding of the natural world we can gain a sense of our place within it and can develop a very real sense of belonging. Now that's pretty beautiful.

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS
Nikki of Wildcraft Australia and Clio Doughty create a space for us to learn different ways to weave with nature, both our environment and our internal wellbeing.
They bring together traditional weaving techniques taught to them by Yolngu Women from North East Arnhemland and ground it in here by using local plant fibres. It draws on having developed a strong relationship and fair exchange with a small Indigenous community called Mapuru near Elcho Island in the Northern Territory. These women are master weavers and they not only give Nikki and Clio permission to pass this knowledge on, they encourage them, as if they teach what they have learnt and those they teach pass on this knowledge, then the knowledge stays alive forever. That is really important to them. Each trip to Mapuru gives Nikki and Clio a greater understanding of this deep process that takes a lifetime to master.
These weaving sessions held at Pocket City Farm are really a magical experience creating a bridge with our Indigenous custodians, ourselves, each other and the land.
Pocket City Farms is continuously updating our covid practices to make our workshops and events as safe as possible, following the current guidelines and recommendations.
